Little Oneroa closed for helicopter clearance

Little Oneroa beach was closed off to all visitors for 3 hours yesterday (21st Sept) as council work to clear unstable trees from the cliff-tops took place.
The fallen trees were deemed as dangerous after being been uprooted in the recent floods and high winds. A council spokesperson said "The council decided to undertake this work quickly to avert any potential danger to locals and tourists before the busy summer season begins".
The ACC contracted work was undertaken by local business Island Treecare and because of the (hard-to-access) cliff-top terrain a helicopter was used to clear the uprooted trees.
