Gary Bell took his first turn as host of Island Life, assisted by David Basham. Gary talked to Rhiannon from Waiheke Library, Pat King of the Onetangi Ratepayers Association, organiser of the upcoming Power Supply Celebration, and island newcomer Brian Smith.
Malcolm McMartin is a multi-instrumentalist of 30 years who has performed, recorded and toured with original bands and currently teaches students on the island. This was a great performance by two Waiheke songwriters and performers at Waiheke Library on Sat 31 May 2014. The library hosted performances by Waiheke musicians every Saturday throughout May to mark New Zealand music month. This was one of the standout performances, a great set of original songs from some very talented locals.
Canto Isola is a year 9-13 young women’s choir at Waiheke High School, currently in its sixth year. They sing pop to musical theatre to baroque madrigals and Pacifica. For New Zeland Music Month 2014 they shared their Big Sing competition set and more.
To mark NZ Music Month Waiheke Libray hosts a series of live musical performances each Saturday during May. On Saturday 17 May a group of five Waiheke High School msuic students performed a range of pieces.
