JJordi Savall  Jordi Savall (b.1941) is a viol player & conductor from Catalunya. He has been one of the major figures in Early Music since the 1970s, and has been a major exponent of solo Viola da Gamba performance as well as various innovative approaches to ensemble. His repertory ranges from the medieval era to the French baroque and beyond.   He is a teacher, performer and conductor and along with his wife, the singer Montserrat Figueras and their children and other musical accomplices has founded numerous ensembles including the chamber group Hesperion XXI, the Concert of Nations and a vocal ensemble dedicated to performing and recording per 1800 vocal music.  Savall’s discography is huge and includes more than 100 recordings. AND since 1998 he has released his records under his own label, Alia Vox and produces CD’s with exceptional artwork and liner books.  So today’s show is dedicated to Mr Savall and will feature a selection of works from his impressive back catalogue
