Korero mo te whare – Kia Piritahi, Waiheke Island


The story of the 15 year long project to develop the whakairo (carvings) and tukutuku (woven panels) for the wharenui at Kia Piritahi marae. Korero was from Tomi Ropata, Lorna Rikihana, Chris Bailey, and Rawiri Toka as they told the story of the wharenui (meeting house) and the development and meanings of the whakairo and tukutuku. This event took place on June 5th, 2016 at the unveiling of the newly dressed wharenui.
