 Updated info for radio

Thanks to Downer, sponsors of our Community Noticeboard we’re posting regular Road Repair Updates. You’ll also be able to hear updates on road works happening on the island on our community notice board broadcast on 88.3 & 107.4FM

Latest road maintenance/repair updates from Downer are:

Resealing is starting on Monday 28th March and will be going on all week, starting with Hauraki Road and George Street. Local residents will receive a letter drop prior to surfacing work starting so that vehicles are not left on the road.

Expect to find manual traffic control on any of the reseal sites this week, see the website for the full list. Please use an alternative route if possible and as always go carefully through the works site and pay attention to any speed limit reductions.

Erua Road is having kerbing installed on Wednesday 23rd. Parking and access will be restricted for the following two days and the road will be very narrow during the works . Avoid this road if you can – use Tahi Road as the route through to Seaview Road.

Mako Street is having a footpath installed to allow safe pedestrian access to the Bowling club and Church Bay Road. There may be manual traffic control or lights operating so if you’re in a rush for the ferry it may be quicker to go around the other way.

Church Bay Road intersection with Mako is being redesigned with a traffic island to reduce the speed of merging traffic. A section will be closed during this work with a short diversion in place.

There is antiskid surfacing being put on the road at the corner of Hamilton & Surfdale in an attempt to reduce the number of scooter riders loosing control and falling off. Work will be done over April 4 and 5 and there will be manual traffic controls in place. However work will be taking place outside of busy commuter times.

Retaining walls are being constructed at Great Barrier Road and Miro road as part of the ongoing storm damage repair.

Remember to look out for temporary speed limits and stick to them – they are there to keep everyone safe.
