When you break it down everything turns to dust, especially rocks, and on Waiheke it’s often so long between rocking acts that venues like The Rocks are covered in dust by the time the next good band comes around to blow the place clean. Just as well that a few weeks back local rockers The Dust blew into at The Rocks with a large list of established songs and a newly printed CD under their belts. Huge kudos to the band for offering up a very generous deal to the punters too, with entry into the club only $5 or for $10 you got entry and a CD of their new album. The Dust don’t blow too much dirt off of a tried and true hard-rock sound but the band plays with high energy and vocalist/guitarist Jett Power has manicured catchy riffage down to a fine art. The addition of Lani Lewis on bass, previously of local bands Clench and The Home Wreckers, solidifies the three piece line-up with drummer Mike Clarkin providing a strong rhythm. All in all a great night of solid rock ensued and a good number of people took home a copy of self-produced album by the band as well to boot.
