Waiheke Peace Campaigners Kara Nelson and Skate

Written by on May 31, 2009

Kara (formerly Kit) Nelson (second left) and Skate were amongst a group of women from Waiheke Island who joined the women’s anti-nuclear weapon protest camp at Greenham Common in Great Britain in the 1980s. Along with fellow Waiheke peace campaigner Maynie Thompson (left), the two are back on the campaign trail, planning for the Waiheke leg of a Global march for Peace planned for Oct 2009. Kara and Skate were interviewed by Chris Walker on Island Life on Sat 30 May 2009. They reminisced about Greenham Common and explained why they are campaigning again.
